Under the Fair Housing Act, a valid ESA letter supports a reasonable-accommodation request: living with your animal in no-pets housing, and exemption from pet rent, pet deposits, and pet fees, plus breed and weight restrictions. It does not give public-access rights in stores or restaurants — that's service-animal territory.
